Eli Lilly May Drop Inhaled Insulin Venture

Mar. 7–Eli Lilly and Co. is expected to discontinue its plan to develop an inhaled insulin with Alkermes Inc., the Massachusetts-based biotechnology company said today. The decision is expected in the next week, Alkermes said.
The Indianapolis drug maker has been working with Alkermes on an inhaled insulin for several years. Alkermes said it’s not aware of any safety issues that are causing Lilly to end the partnership.
