Sara Lee Bakery Group to host a live nutrition question-and-answer Web session at 3 p.m. EST on Feb. 24 at www.breadrules.com
Sara Lee Bakery Group will host a live web chat with the company's nutritionist at 3 p.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 24, to discuss ways Americans can lower their risk for heart disease, the nation's leading cause of death. The Web chat is accessible via the Bread Rules Web site (www.breadrules.com).
The company recently launched the Bread Rules Web site to give consumers a resource for straightforward, no-nonsense information related to bread nutrition. The site contains advice from experts about healthy diets, complex carbohydrates, weight control, and other nutritional trends and topics such as heart health.
In addition to regular exercise, healthy diets are essential to heart health, but what does a heart-healthy diet really look like? And with today's on-the-go eating habits, can eating the right foods be quick and simple? Can they taste good?
During the Web chat, Frances Coletta, Ph.D., R.D., and director of product nutrition for Sara Lee Bakery Group, will discuss:
-- Recent studies showing that folic acid plays an important role in decreasing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke mortality for both men and women
-- Recently revised U.S. Dietary Guidelines calling for increased consumption of heart-healthy, nutrient-packed foods such as whole grain products
-- What are whole grains and their benefits
-- Nutrition basics and other questions related to the revised Dietary Guidelines
The transcript of the Web chat will be archived on Bread Rules and available to those who cannot join it live. Consumers may submit questions in advance through the site's "Contact Us" feature.
