Provista Life Sciences LLC (www.ProvistaLS.com), a medical diagnostic development and commercialization company, announced today Louis Kirby, MD, Chief Medical Officer, was selected by the National Institutes of Health to present information on the clinical applications of biomarkers in the early detection of cancer at the 5th annual meeting of the National Cancer Institute's Early Detection Research Network.
"This conference brings together the nation's foremost scientists and medical professionals focused on cancer research and diagnosis," said Louis Kirby, Provista Life Sciences' Chief Medical Officer. "It is an honor to take part in this critical discussion and I look forward to presenting the remarkable advancements in biomarker clinical applications, such as those achieved by Provista Life Sciences, in early cancer detection."
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is one of eight agencies that compose the Public Health Service (PHS) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). NCI's Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) is a consortium of investigators focused on translational research surrounding cancer biomarkers and advancing these biomarkers to clinical application. This year's workshop, titled "Biomarkers at the Crossroads," is designed to facilitate dissemination of new information and to highlight accomplishments in cancer biomarkers development.
In his presentation, titled "A Clinical Trial Biomarker Panel for Breast Cancer Detection," Dr. Kirby will review the clinical trials associated with Provista Life Sciences' Biomarker Translation Test, or BT Test, which was recently introduced commercially in Phoenix. The BT Test is more than 80 percent accurate at detecting the presence of breast cancer in women ages 35-70 and is currently being prescribed by physicians in Arizona. The 5th annual NCI's Early Detection Research Network conference runs from March 17-19 in Bethesda, Md.
