'Island' Star Shunned By Girl Scouts

Gilligan's Island star Dawn Wells' legal woes have prompted the Girl Scouts of America to cancel her Florida speaking engagement.
Girl Scouts spokeswoman Holly Policy said next month's speech by Wells, who played Mary Ann on the TV comedy series, was canceled due to the timing of the actress' arrest for reckless driving in Idaho, the New York Post said Sunday.
We canceled her contract because we didn't feel it would be appropriate for her to speak under the circumstances, Policy said.
Wells, 69, pleaded guilty to a single charge of reckless driving last week for the October arrest and received a suspended sentence of five days in jail.
Charges of marijuana possession and driving while intoxicated were dropped as part of her guilty plea.
Wells was to address a Girl Scouts gathering April 5 in Palm Beach County, Fla.
