Hospitals Ready to Face Emergencies

LUCKNOW: Chief medical officer AK Shukla had directed the authorities of all the government hospitals to be prepared to deal with emergency cases in view of Holi. The main hospitals have been directed to take measures to provide treatment to persons suffering injuries in accidents. Ophthalmologists have been posted at the emergency wards to take care of patients suffering from eye injuries.

Briefing reporters on Wednesday, Shukla said that three ambulances with medical facilities have been kept ready. One ambulance having two doctors, one paramedic and a nurse will be stationed at the DM’s camp office. The other will be managed by the control room at the CMO office and the third one will be at the Balrampur Hospital. Directives were issued to the chief medical superintendents of all the three hospitals to keep their teams ready.

Medical superintendent of Balrampur Hospital, Dr DP Mishra, said that the hospital is known for its ophthalmic (eyes) services and two senior consultants were deputed for ‘on call duty’ while juniors will be posted at the emergency department. “An additional stock of anti-allergic drugs and antibiotics have been provided. Several beds in the ward number 9 and emergency wards have been reserved. Also, the operations theatre has been prepared to provide round-the-clock services,” he stated.

In-charge, trauma centre, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University, Abbas Ali Mahdi said that instructions have been issued to increase the number of beds in the orthopaedic emergency to provide medical aid to accident victims. He said that experts will be available round-the-clock.
