Health Canada Issues Warning About Specific Lot of PediaCol Colic Drops

OTTAWA - Health Canada is warning parents not to give infants and young children a certain lot of PediaCol drops, a product administered orally to relieve symptoms of gas associated with colic.
Health Canada says lot number PDC701 of the drops was found to be contaminated with yeast, and may pose a serious health risk. The agency says children with weakened immune systems are especially at risk.
Euro-Pharm International Canada has initiated a recall of PediaCol colic drops with Drug Identification Number (DIN) 02245510 and the affected lot number of PDC701.
Health Canada advises consumers who have that lot to return it to the place of purchase. It also advises parents to throw out any bottles that may have been used to store or adminster the product.
Symptoms of exposure to products contaminated with yeast include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, weight loss, lethargy, coughing, or decreased appetite.
