Health Net Federal Services LLC (Health Net), the government operations division of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT) and MHN Government Services (MHNGS), Health Net, Inc.'s behavioral health division, are honored to serve as Host and Silver corporate sponsors of the 22nd National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass Village, Colo., March 30 - April 4, 2008. Jointly sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), more than 400 severely disabled veterans from across the country, including 120 recently injured veterans from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, attend this life-changing event.
"Health Net and MHNGS are privileged to continue supporting disabled veterans as sponsors of the 22nd National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic," said Steve Tough, president, Health Net Government and Specialty Services Division. "Health Net and MHNGS are committed to improving the quality of life for America's veterans by supporting programs that help disabled veterans achieve a fit and healthy life, and honor their service to our country."
"We're proud to have an opportunity to support our nation's veterans," said MHN president Steve Sell. "The men and women who attend the Winter Sports Clinic are heroes who have sacrificed greatly on behalf of every American, and we're humbled to have a chance to meet them and help improve their lives."
MHNGS is honored to support the Winter Sports Clinic as a Silver level sponsor, as well as offer free on-site counseling services for participating veterans and their families. These same counseling services were very well received among the disabled veterans and families who attended last year's Winter Sports Clinic. Health Net is proud to participate again as a Host sponsor.
The Winter Sports Clinic provides veterans with severe disabilities opportunities for self-development and challenge through sports and leisure activities. At the Clinic, all participants are able to develop winter sports skills and take part in a variety of adaptive workshops, which demonstrate that having a physical or visual disability need not be an obstacle to an active, rewarding life.
The clinic is open to U.S. military veterans with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries or disease, orthopedic amputations, visual impairments, certain neurological conditions, and other disabilities, who receive care at a VA medical facility or military treatment facility.
