The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), a public charity founded by the Estee Lauder family, is hosting its second annual Connoisseur's Dinner: An Evening of Wine and Art, on Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 pm. The event is generously sponsored by and held at Sotheby's, 1334 York Avenue at 72nd Street, 10th floor.
The dinner menu is designed and prepared to match a fine wine pairing. The live auction, led by renowned Sotheby's auctioneer Jamie Niven, will feature an exciting selection of rare wines, such as double-magnums of 1990 and 2000 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and a case of 1970 Petrus. Other auction highlights include an exclusive South African safari package with a stay at the legendary Steenberg Hotel & Vineyard, private reserve safaris and round trip airfare for two to South Africa, as well as a Parisian couture package with tickets for select January 2009 haute couture fashion shows, luxury hotel accommodations and a roundtrip flight from New York to Paris for four people.
This year ADDF will launch the Fund a Scientist Campaign, where guests will be invited to sponsor a groundbreaking scientist at the forefront of Alzheimer's drug research.
Leonard Lauder, ADDF Board Chairman, and Nancy Corzine, ADDF Board President, are hosting the event along with Cece Cord and John Baldwin, Audrey and Martin Gruss, Lee and James Niven, Thomas Quick, Hilary and Wilbur Ross, and Betsey and Bill Ruprecht, who are serving as honorary chairs.
The benefit committee includes: Dennis Basso, Christine and Carl Bernstein, Carol Seabrook Boulanger, Lizbeth and John Cooney, Nancy and Steven Crown, Joanne and Roberto de Guardiola, Siri and Lars Ekman, Howard Fillit, Marjorie Gubelmann, Christina Juarez, Carson Kressley, Dalia and Laurence Leeds, Jennifer Miller and Mark Ehret, Julian Niccolini, Eliza Osborne, Katherine Furman and Timothy Pasik, Connie Anne Phillips, Keith Rosenbloom, Susan and Jon Rotenstreich, Noreen Donovan and Peter Thomas Roth, Lizabeth and Randal Sandler, Sheila and Richard Schwartz, Amy Treitel, and Peggy and Cyrus Vance, Jr.
Says Ms. Corzine: "We are thrilled that Sotheby's is assisting us for the second consecutive year in making our Connoisseur's Dinner and auction a great success. We have high hopes to exceed the funds raised at last year's event while offering our guests and ADDF supporters a truly special evening of food, wine and art."
