Management Health Solutions, Inc., (MHS) the leading provider of inventory measurement, data cleansing services and data management solutions for the healthcare industry, signed a three-year agreement with Universal Health Services (UHS) for maintenance of the McKesson PMM database. The agreement will take effect April 1, 2008.
As part of the agreement, MHS will assume responsibility for maintaining all current item level data, including price and patient charge status, on the McKesson Materials Management Information System (PMM). UHS currently tracks over 400,000 records across all of its acute care facilities. MHS will work with UHS to convert those hospitals not currently utilizing the McKesson System solution over the next year. MHS will administer the addition, change or inactivation of vendors, manufacturers and contracts.
George Malik, Vice President of Logistics and Materials Management at UHS, commented, "We selected MHS because they specialize in data management solutions and have proven software tools, processes and domain experience. Their management and oversight of our item master will allow UHS to track and achieve significant savings through data intelligence."
According to MHS, Inc.'s Co Founder and EVP of Operations Mike Ferris, "We are very pleased to join with Universal Health Services, whose decision to partner with us is further validation of our extensive service offering and expertise in measuring inventories and managing complex medical/surgical-item level data for the healthcare industry. The integration of our services and software will speed UHS' data conversion from older technology platforms to the McKesson PMM Database. In turn, it will ensure that they have an accurate Item Master and will establish a consistent process by which they can accept requests from care givers, material managers and manufacturers."
