HL7 and ASC X12 Offer Webinar on Plan-to-Plan Personal Health Record (PHR) Data Transfer Implementation Guide Ballot

Posted on: Thursday, 3 April 2008, 15:00 CDT

Health Level Seven, Inc. (HL7) and the Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) today announced a joint webinar on the Plan-to-Plan Personal Health Record (PHR) Data Transfer Implementation Guide developed in collaboration with Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). The Implementation Guide is currently being balloted through HL7.

The webinar will be held April 11, 2008 at 2:00 pm ET and will run for 90 minutes. It will educate attendees about the Plan-to-Plan PHR Data Transfer Implementation Guide, which was created for the US payer stakeholder community. Software developers and consultants responsible for implementation of the US realm PHR and EHR systems and local, regional, and national health information exchange networks as well as other interested parties are encouraged to attend the webinar.

The purpose of the Plan-to-Plan PHR data transfer is to facilitate PHR data portability between health plans. Based on the HL7/ASTM Continuity of Care Document (CCD), this Implementation Guide will provide health plans, with member consent, the ability to move the member's payer-linked PHR information from the previous plan to the new plan when their health coverage changes. It also provides a potential framework for greater standards-based interoperability of Personal Health Records between the consumer and the provider.

The registration fee is $75. For more information, or to register for this event, please visit http://www.hl7.org/events/X12042008/.

Attendees at this webinar are invited to participate in the first informative ballot on the Plan-to-Plan PHR Data Transfer Implementation Guide. The ballot will be open until April 28, 2008, but interested parties must sign up to participate by the end of the day, April 14, 2008.

HL7 Members may sign up on for this ballot pool at the Ballot Desktop home page at: http://www.hl7.org/ctl.cfm?action=ballots.home. Non-members may also participate in this ballot by paying a $50 administrative fee.
