ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A Newfoundland health board says a breast-cancer patient was told just this week her tissue sample was retested, weeks after a public inquiry began into botched test results.
A spokeswoman for Eastern Health says the woman's tissue sample was part of the original group of patients from 1997 to 2005 whose tests were redone.
Deborah Collins says Eastern Health is "extremely concerned" and is investigating why the woman wasn't contacted until this week.
Collins says she didn't know whether the woman's test result was incorrect.
The inquiry is looking into why nearly 400 breast-cancer patients received the wrong results on their breast-cancer tests.
It is also trying to determine whether Eastern Health or any other responsible authorities responded to patients and the public in an appropriate and timely manner.
