YOUNG Indian doctor Sabeel Ahmed travelled to the UK to care for the sick and weak.

But he ended up embroiled in a potentially murderous terrorist campaign orchestrated by his elder brother.

He took his first steps towards becoming a doctor at the Rajiv Gandhi University in Bangalore.

In April 2005, shortly after completing his medical degree, Ahmed travelled to Britain to continue his studies.

He and brother Kafeel, an engineering graduate, set up home in Cambridge before Sabeel moved to Liverpool.

The Old Bailey heard he found work at Halton General Hospital before he briefly returned to his family in India.

He returned in December when he undertook a clinical apprenticeship.

Documents written by Kafeel as he finalised his terrorist plot revealed that his parents were unaware of his extremism.

He wrote: “Try to put off telling Abbu-Ammi (mother and father) for as long as possible. I am sorry for putting you in this situation.”
