EXODUS Program Reduces Healthcare Costs for Businesses, Reduces Health Risks of Employees
Posted on: Monday, 14 April 2008, 15:00 CDT
The Mahoney Group (TMG), Arizona's largest independent insurance agency, has partnered with Humana Inc.'s (NYSE: HUM) Arizona operations and POPS Health to introduce the EXODUS Program designed to reduce claims for local employers by targeting employees' health risks and changing unhealthy behaviors.
"Finally, there's a way for businesses to take control of their health care costs through on-site wellness. We are excited to bring this to our clients," said Glen Nelson, chief executive officer of The Mahoney Group. "This is a powerful new concept in the health insurance world."
Aimed at businesses with 51 or more eligible employees, the EXODUS Program combines Humana's consumer-oriented health plans with an in-depth health risk assessment and on-site health coaches provided by Phoenix-based POPS Health.
The EXODUS Program will leverage Humana's consumer-focused health plans including No Worry for small businesses and SmartSuite for larger companies. Humana will also provide its clinical and disease management programs as well as its member education programs.
Physical education and nutritional science personnel from POPS Health will be assigned to each company participating in the program. After the employee completes a health risk assessment, these medical personnel provide individual face-to-face confidential educational counseling to meet individual health goals.
"Along with the monthly on-site health coaches, POPS Health will offer access to live coaches via the phone or internet as well as an individual member website and employee educational resources," said Nelson. "This is one of the first health plans designed to help reduce costs by helping people get healthy and stay healthy!"
