DiabetesAmerica(TM) Offers Free Online Health & Lifestyle Classes

Posted on: Thursday, 17 April 2008, 09:01 CDT

DiabetesAmerica, the premiere network of diabetes care and management centers across the state of Texas, announced today that they will be offering free online health and lifestyle classes to the public. DiabetesAmerica's "Healthy Living Series" consists of interactive, online courses designed to promote wellness and comprehensive healthcare. Each web-based, 30-minute class will be presented by a DiabetesAmerica dietitian, registered nurse or certified diabetes educator and will focus on a different topic each month. At the end of each course, participants will be able to chat live with the presenter who will be available to answer questions, offer advice and provide support.

The convenience of the online format enables people to get valuable educational and nutritional advice from a professional without leaving the comfort of their own homes or offices.

"We hope this will make it easier for people to take the first step towards taking charge of their health," said Liz Bello, Director of Education & Nutrition Services for DiabetesAmerica. "In just half an hour while they're eating lunch or taking a short break, people can get important health information that can help improve their quality of life."

Class topics include Stress Management, Healthy Supermarket Selections, Exercising with Diabetes, Healthy Summer Menus and more, and the classes are not just for individuals with diabetes. "Most of the classes are not diabetes-specific," added Bello. "Each class is designed to appeal to anyone who is looking for advice on how to live a healthier life, whether they have diabetes or not."
