Masters of Natural Medicine to Lecture at Institute for Human Individuality Annual Conference; Hot Topic Will Be Nutrigenomics
Posted on: Thursday, 10 March 2005, 15:00 CST
For the first time in history, the four masters of natural medicine will lecture in one place during the Institute for Human Individuality (IfHI) annual conference, and the hot topic will be nutrigenomics, one of the most exciting theories in science today.
The science of nutrigenomics seeks to provide a molecular understanding of how common dietary chemicals affect health by altering the expression or structure of an individual's genetic makeup.
IfHI 2005: The Four Masters will take place at the Wyndham Buttes in Tempe, Ariz., April 15 to 17.
The basic tenets of IfHI include that improper diets are risk factors for disease and that genetic-based diets prevent and mitigate chronic disease.
Peter D'Adamo, N.D., who will lecture on blood type science, is considered a world authority on the link between human blood groups, disease and nutrition. Dr. D'Adamo wrote The New York Times best-selling book "Eat Right 4 Your Type."
In addition to presenting the latest research on blood types and their relation to diet and health, Dr. D'Adamo will introduce a revolutionary new system of biometrics at IfHI 2005. This new "Bioidentity System" further expands his groundbreaking work in nutrigenomics and provides even greater specificity in the determination of optimum diet, the tailoring of specific supplements and therapies, and the development of strategies to predict and prevent disease.
Jeffrey Bland, Ph.D., FACN, is regarded worldwide as a principal educator in nutritional and functional medicine and has lectured to more than 50,000 health practitioners in seminars during the past 20 years. Dr. Bland will lecture on functional medicine and nutrigenomics.
Walter Crinnion, N.D., will lecture on polymorphisms and the toxic environment. He is a renowned expert in detoxification and environmental medicine, and is co-founder and head of the Environmental Medicine Center of Excellence at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Ariz.
Joseph Pizzorno, N.D., who will present his lecture, "The Salugeneticist," is founding president of Bastyr University in Seattle. He is also the author of "Total Wellness" and co-author of "Textbook of Natural Medicine" and "Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine."
IfHI 2005: The Four Masters is open to all health professionals and anyone interested in learning about the newest advances in the science of nutrigenomics. Registration for the three-day conference is $470, with special discounts available to qualifying candidates.
IfHI is part of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), a regionally accredited naturopathic medical school and health sciences center. IfHI 2005: The Four Masters is sponsored by SCNM and North American Pharmacal.
