IMPAC Medical Systems Announces 2008 Laboratory Professionals of the Year

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., an Elekta company, and leading provider of information technology solutions for anatomic pathology and oncology care, today awarded the 2008 IMPAC Laboratory Professional of the Year, Anatomic Pathology award to Judith Thompson, Manager of Laboratory Informatics, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania and the 2008 IMPAC Laboratory Professional of the Year, Clinical Laboratory, to Janet McLean, Medical Technologist, Advanced Care & Treatment Medical Group, in Rockford, Illinois.
IMPAC's Laboratory Professional of the Year program honors outstanding laboratory professionals in both the anatomic pathology lab and clinical lab who make valuable contributions to the success of their laboratory operations, and who extend their contributions to benefit the broader medical facility and community. These awards are part of IMPAC's celebration of National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 20-26, 2008.
Judith Thompson is recognized for her exceptional service to Jefferson Regional Medical Center throughout the past 19 years. A strong leader, Thompson was instrumental in the recent implementation of IMPAC's laboratory information management system for anatomic pathology, PowerPath(R). Determined to build a successful end product, Thompson diligently supervised system changes and staff training throughout the installation process, further improving the efficiency of the lab, as well as staff morale.

Renowned for her contributions to process improvement, Janet McLean was instrumental in helping the Advanced Care & Treatment Medical Group, in Rockford, Illinois achieve a zero deficiency COLA inspection in 2007, as well as and obtain the 2007 Laboratory Excellence Award. A professional that sets high standards for herself and others, McLean educated the entire staff on lab safety, as well as single-handedly authored the Quality Assurance and safety manuals for the group.
