Commonwealth Bank Starts New Specialist Division

Australia-based Commonwealth Bank has launched its new healthcare banking division. Healthcare banking is the latest addition to the bank’s market specialist unit, which already includes franchising and financial planning banking.

The premise is to provide enhanced customer service and tailored financial solutions to specific sectors across the country. Healthcare banking will provide services to a range of sectors including general practitioners, pharmacists, specialists, optometrists, vets and dentists.

The bank said that a suite of services will be available through healthcare banking, from commercial financing for mergers, acquisitions, succession planning and purchasing business premises to asset finance options, transactional banking services, superannuation solutions and business insurance. The bank’s MediClear payment facility will also be accessible.

Robert Luca, executive general manager of corporate financial services at, Commonwealth Bank, said: “The preparatory in-market research has played a significant role in helping us develop healthcare banking and ensure we are able to provide customers in this sector the financial solutions and support they really need.”
