Care Communications, Inc. Announces Surge in Q1 Consulting Services

Posted on: Monday, 28 April 2008, 15:00 CDT

Care Communications, Inc., a nationally recognized leader in the health information management (HIM) industry, today announced new client agreements and growth in its staffing and consulting lines of business. Revenues from consulting services, including education, increased by 75 percent compared to the first quarter of 2007; revenue from staffing services grew by 12 percent over the same period.

"While administrators of hospitals and health networks have traditionally sought out new sources of revenue to improve the bottom line, a growing number have begun to look more closely at revenue recovery," said Hal Walsh, Care Communications' senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Small adjustments in reimbursement and coding procedures can have a tremendous impact on an organization's bottom line."

One of Care Communications' most significant new client agreements was signed with Provista; Care Communications became Provista's preferred vendor for HIM services. As one of the country's leading group purchasing and business solutions organizations, Provista represents businesses in many industries, including more than 10,000 providers of healthcare and higher education.

"Care Communications offers revenue enhancing cost-effective solutions that can benefit the healthcare providers in our network," said Rebecca Gayden, Provista portfolio executive. "This is an important partnership to our member healthcare providers, and we're happy to be working with Care Communications to offer them health information management services that are among the best in the industry."

Organizations that rely on Care Communications run the gamut from large-scale hospitals and healthcare systems to universities and research organizations across the nation. Some of the most noteworthy Q1 agreements signed by the company in 2008 include:

Renown Health -- Reno, Nev.

Elkview General Hospital -- Hobart, Okla.

Mason General Hospital -- Shelton, Wash.

Christus St. Frances Cabrini -- Alexandria, La.

St. Anthony's Medical Center -- St. Louis

Valley View Hospital -- Glenwood Springs, Colo.

Central DuPage Hospital -- Winfield, Ill.

Lakeview Surgery Center -- Des Moines, Iowa

"Regardless of any economic downturn, hospital administrators continue to recognize the value of health information management professionals and increasingly utilize their expertise in many different sectors of their organizations," added Walsh. "Although these professionals were utilized almost exclusively for medical coding as little as ten years ago, many now assist hospital administrators in revenue recovery, preparation for regulatory audits, implementation of electronic health records and in the execution of many other strategic initiatives.
