Alliance Calls for Second Investigation

The relatives whose complaints triggered an investigation into care at Whipton Hospital are calling for a second inquiry.

Jennifer Leach, Pat Martin and Andrew Elston, who each had their complaints into their fathers’ treatment upheld by the Healthcare Commission, have formed an alliance called the Whipton Protest over NHS Negligence.

They believe a review should have investigated who was responsible for the decline in care, as well as making recommendations for improvement.

Mr Elston said: "It’s quite extraordinary to admit that there were all these failings, but then to say nobody was responsible. We aren’t happy about it at all. It seems the trust is ducking and diving."

The campaigners are seeking an urgent meeting with health minister and Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw to highlight their concerns.
