Ramsell Public Health Rx Awarded Colorado State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program Contract
Posted on: Monday, 12 May 2008, 12:00 CDT
Ramsell Public Health Rx today announced that it will administer a full suite of Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) solutions for the Bridging the Gap, Colorado (BTGC) program, a State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (SPAP) that covers the costs of a participant's Medicare deductible, co-payment and coinsurance. The customizable PBM solution will provide a comprehensive package to meet BTGC's service needs, including coordination of benefits, claims adjudication, pharmacy network management and data management.
"Our deep experience in public health allows us to create services that meet the specific needs of the public health sector," said Sophia Byndloss, president, Ramsell Public Health Rx. "The PBM Solution was designed to provide public health organizations with an effective and efficient solution to help make funding go further and allow patients access to critical medications. We are pleased that the Colorado SPAP can use our services to improve the lives of people that depend on its programs."
Bridging the Gap, Colorado provides assistance for people with HIV/AIDS who are eligible for Medicare Part D, a federal program that subsidizes the costs of prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries. BTGC "wraps around" Medicare Part D coverage by paying for participants' premiums, co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance, and some of the costs incurred in the Medicare "coverage gap." This allows participants to access formulary drugs of their prescription drug plan at significant cost savings. Enrollment into BTGC is conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
"Following a formal request for proposal process, the state selected Ramsell Public Health Rx for its Pharmacy Benefit Management solutions," said Todd Grove, project administrator of the Colorado SPAP. "The BTGC program has been in place since January 2008, and during that time the State Pharmacy Assistance Program has been providing prescription services to approximately 400 participants."
The Ramsell Public Health Rx PBM solution offers public health organizations multiple benefits, including data management systems that provide real-time access to data and reports that can be used for program trending and forecasting. Trending and forecasting are particularly important because they can help public health programs maximize funding to provide care for more people. Ramsell Public Health Rx assists with the coordination of benefits, program limits, program coverage, reimbursement assistance, claim adjudication and eligibility concerns that may arise in providing service to Bridging the Gap, Colorado program members.
