Kroger Expands Generic Drug Program

Posted on: Thursday, 15 May 2008, 06:00 CDT

Supermarket operator The Kroger has announced that its in-store pharmacies are expanding their generic drug program by offering customers lower prices and additional drug choices to meet their health needs.

Kroger is offering 90-day prescriptions for $10 on its expanded generic drug program. Kroger pharmacies are also increasing the number of women's health medications offered at a discounted price. These specialized medications are available for $9 in 30-day supplies or $24 for a 90-day supply.

The company said that the program is available at Kroger family stores across the US under the following banners: Kroger, Baker's, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry's, Gerbes, Hilander, Jay C, King Soopers, Owen's, Pay Less, Ralphs, Scott's, Smith's and QFC stores.

This new initiative expands the program Kroger introduced in fall 2007 that provides a $4 price for more than 300 generic drugs prescribed in 30-day supplies.

Don McGeorge, president and COO of Kroger, said: "Our expanded generic drug program is another example of the many ways we at Kroger are making it easier for customers to stretch their dollars farther for the staples they need for their families. Our customers can continue to rely on the expert health counsel and friendly service Kroger's team of professional pharmacists consistently offer."
