APHA launched National Public Health Week 2008 with a news briefing at the 2008 conference of the Association of Health Care Journalists in Arlington, Va. Speakers at the event included David Satcher, MD, PhD, former U.S. surgeon general and director of the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities at Morehouse School of Medicine, at top, and APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin, MD, FACP, FACEP (E), bottom left. The conference was attended by hundreds of journalists from throughout the country, including Associated Press reporter Mike Stobbe, pictured at bottom right, who asked presenters a question about climate and health.
