ZixCorp, a provider of hosted services for email encryption and e-prescribing, has announced that LA Care, a public health plan, will offer the company's PocketScript e-prescribing service through its new Health IT Incentive Program.
The Health IT Incentive Program runs for one year and will reward physicians for adoption and sustained utilization of healthcare technology, including e-prescribing. The program reimburses eligible physicians up to $3,000 for e-prescribing. Physicians must write a minimum of 80 electronic prescriptions per month for three consecutive months to qualify for reimbursement.
ZixCorp has said that PocketScript e-prescribing service enables physicians to order prescriptions through a wireless mobile PDA or website and deliver them electronically to the patient's preferred pharmacy.
Rick Spurr, CEO of ZixCorp, said: "While our customers continue to invest in our e-prescribing technology to improve patient safety and to lower pharmacy spend, they also realize the value of establishing an electronic connection with the doctor to deliver real-time, patient-specific decision support."
