Charles J. Bramlage Named President of Covidien Pharmaceutical Products Business

Covidien (NYSE: COV, BSX: COV), a leading global provider of healthcare products, today announced the appointment of Charles (Chuck) J. Bramlage to the position of President, Pharmaceutical Products, effective immediately.
Covidien's $900 million Pharmaceutical Products business is the world's largest manufacturer of acetaminophen, the sixth largest U.S. generic pharmaceutical supplier and the 10th largest pharmaceutical business in the U.S. based on prescriptions dispensed. The business supplies brand pharmaceuticals used to treat sleep and central nervous system conditions, a broad range of generic medications used for pain management and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) used by pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide.
Bramlage, 47, will lead the overall management and strategic direction of the Pharmaceutical Products business, which is also the leading supplier of legal controlled substances in the U.S. He will report to Timothy R. Wright, President, Pharmaceutical Products and Imaging Solutions, Covidien.
"Chuck is a seasoned executive with an extensive track record in the pharmaceutical industry in the U. S. and abroad," said Wright. "Chuck brings a wealth of industry knowledge and leadership to the business, which will help us to utilize our unique capabilities to support current and long-term product strategies with an intense focus on helping customers improve patients' lives."
Prior to joining Covidien, Bramlage was President for North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Valeant Pharmaceuticals. He previously held executive positions at BattellePharma Inc., where he served as President and CEO. For nearly 10 years, Bramlage served in sales, senior marketing management and business management roles at GlaxoSmithKline, where he was Vice President of Respiratory Global Commercial Development. Bramlage also spent five years with Merck & Co. working in marketing and sales management.
