Impulse Monitoring Signs IONM Agreement With University of Virginia Health System

Posted on: Thursday, 29 May 2008, 12:00 CDT

Impulse Monitoring, Inc. (IMI), a leading provider of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) services to hospitals, today announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with the University of Virginia Health System (UVAHS), Charlottesville, VA. Under the terms of the agreement, which includes two one-year extension options, IMI will provide UVAHS with comprehensive IONM services including IMI-qualified neurophysiologists and real-time professional oversight by an experienced physician. IONM assesses neurological function involving the brain, spinal cord and related nerve structures during surgery. Use of IONM facilitates the surgical process and can reduce surgical risk by providing alerts to surgeons of potential harm to the spinal cord or neural structures.

"With its Neurosciences Center and its Spine Center, the University of Virginia Health System has established itself among the preeminent neurosurgical and orthopedic institutions in the country," said Gene Cattarina, Impulse Monitoring President and CEO. "It is both an honor and a testament to the quality of the services we provide that such a prestigious organization has selected IMI as a provider of IONM services."
