The Premier healthcare alliance today honored U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) for her outstanding leadership in advancing legislation to improve the quality of healthcare and supporting non-profit hospitals.
Blair Childs, senior vice president of public affairs for Premier, presented the Healthcare Transformation Award to Rep. Myrick in Charlotte, N.C. The award recognizes members of Congress for their efforts to advance legislation to improve healthcare quality while safely reducing costs in North Carolina.
Rep. Myrick co-authored legislation (H.R. 3533) to extend the moratorium on the implementation of several Medicaid rules that would adversely impact patients, mobilizing widespread congressional support for the effort. Rep. Myrick has also led efforts to communicate to the administration the importance of a competitive healthcare marketplace to reduce the costs of drugs for patients. In supporting numerous measures to improve the quality and access of cancer screenings and treatment, Rep. Myrick has been a champion of healthcare for women.
"Representative Myrick has been a true leader in advancing legislation to improve the quality of healthcare for patients while safely reducing costs," said Childs. "As a result of Representative Myrick's work, Congress and the administration are addressing many issues that are critical to our hospitals' ability to provide the care that patients in North Carolina deserve."
