Hospital Workers Ratify Contract With Hahnemann

PHILADELPHIA, May 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Members of District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Employees AFSCME, AFL-CIO this morning (Friday) ratified a four-year contract agreement with Hahnemann University Hospital that calls for a 16.8 percent increase in wages and benefits.

District 1199C represents some 1,300 workers at Hahnemann and the agreement was reached with the hospital following some 16 and a half hours of round-the-clock negotiations begun Wednesday morning and concluded around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

The new contract is to go into effect July 1.

Henry Nicholas, president of District 1199C, said the contract achieved the necessary increases in benefits, pension support and wages.

On May 15, the union reached a four-year contract agreement with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital that included a 16.8 percent increase in wages and benefits.
