The clinical endocrinologist's role is more important than ever to many of the nation's most pressing health issues. Obesity is quickly becoming the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. More than 27 million Americans are affected by thyroid disease and half are unaware they have the condition.

The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists' (AACE) Fourteenth Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress, May 18 through May 22, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., will highlight the latest research on these and other endocrine- related disorders.

Endocrinologia y Diabetologia en Espanol -- Saturday, May 21, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

-- For the first time, scientific sessions will be presented entirely in Spanish, including Diabetes in Latino and Hispanic Patients, The Role of Bariatric Surgery for Obesity, Hypothyroidism and Pregnancy: The Benefits of Early Treatment and Maternal-Fetal Health.

General meeting sessions in Spanish or Italian -- May 19-21

-- General sessions will be translated from English to Spanish or Italian to accommodate the AACE international membership base.

In addition to the above workshops, twenty-one Satellite Symposia covering related topics will be held throughout the meeting, including Wednesday afternoon, May 18.
