Campaign Aims to Cover 1,000 Uninsured Children in One Day

CHICAGO, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, June 21st, community partners throughout the Chicago area will work together in an effort enroll 1,000 children in the Illinois All Kids health insurance program as part of the 1,000 Healthy Kids & Families Campaign.
Enrollment locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about the enrollment process and where to go to enroll, call 877-RES-INFO (877-737-4636) or visit http://www.1000healthykids.org/.
In Illinois, every child is eligible for public health insurance. However, 376,000 Illinois children still are uninsured. If approximately 1,000 children (1,050) were enrolled in the state's All Kids program every day, all children in Illinois would have health care coverage within one year.
All Kids offers comprehensive health care coverage that includes doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, vision care, dental care and medical devices like eyeglasses and asthma inhalers. Parents pay monthly premiums for the coverage, but rates for middle-income families are significantly lower than they are on the private market.
"It is a moral outrage that so many Illinois children, who are our future and also the most vulnerable among us, do not have full access to health care services," said Father Michael Place, Senior Vice President of Social Mission & Ministerial Development at Resurrection Health Care.
"Our hope is that by working together with others in the community, we can launch new forms of collaboration that will continue to create change long after our short-term goal of enrolling 1,000 children in one day has been achieved."
Organizational support for the 1,000 Healthy Kids and Families Campaign is provided by Resurrection Health Care, a family of health care services providing advanced medical care and exceptional customer service with compassion and hope.
