Oklahoma Heart Hospital Offers Screening for Depression and Adds Full-Time Psychologist

Oklahoma Heart Hospital is now screening patients for depression and has added a full-time psychologist.
We're the only hospital in Oklahoma with a psychologist dedicated full-time to managing heart disease, said John Harvey, cardiologist and medical director of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. If we can diagnose and treat our patients with depression in tandem with treating them for heart disease, we will improve their chances of a good recovery. Depression is fairly easy to diagnose and treat, but it remains grossly under-treated and undiagnosed nationwide.
Christopher DuRoy, a psychologist, will perform follow-up examinations of patients who show signs of depression.
DuRoy, who received his doctorate in psychology from Oklahoma State University, served as staff psychologist for Integris Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital for five years.
Oklahoma Heart Hospital is a partnership between Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates and Mercy Health Center along with other cardiovascular physicians.
