Medevac Service Back in Eastern New Mexico Again
By The Portales News-Tribune, N.M.
Jun. 18--Roosevelt General Hospital Director James D'Agostino told board members Tuesday an AreoCare helicopter was now stationed in Clovis to handle emergency patient transfers to Lubbock.
The helicopter also features onboard medical equipment that can be used to monitor and treat patients.
"It is very beneficial for the hospital and residents of Portales to have the medevac helicopter stationed so closely," D'Agostino said.
The MD 902 helicopter is being housed at a hanger located at the Clovis Municipal Airport.
A helicopter stationed at RGH during the day was moved back to Lubbock in March after another AeroCare helicopter was grounded for repairs, according Andy Faletto, director of the Lubbock branch of AeroCare.
Other business before the board included:
--The board approved a medical staff bylaws revision changing the credentialing of doctors from two to three years.
--A discussion was held about the recruitment of physicians for the off-site health clinic. Hospital recruiters are seeking out doctors to be stationed at the health clinics in Portales and Clovis.
--An update on Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) machine for the hospital. The system is a filmless X-ray unit that will allow RGH to transmit that data digitally to other hospitals. The current projected cost of the system will be close to $180,000, which includes the installation of the system at the off-site clinic in Portales, D'Agostino said.
