Many Free Summer Lunch Programs for Kids, Teens

Jun. 19–Free lunches for children and teenagers age 18 and younger will be available throughout South Sound this summer.

Children and teenagers from families of any income level may drop in on any day and get a free lunch and a snack. Some of the summer lunches, which are provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, coincide with free activities for children.

Locations will be closed July 4.

Olympia

–Garfield Elementary School: 325 Plymouth St. N.W.; hot lunch served at noon, snack in the afternoon, Monday through Friday from June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Lions Park: 800 Wilson St.; sack lunch served at noon, snack in the afternoon, Monday through Friday from June 23 to Aug. 15.

The program is run by Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation, which is also having SKIPP, a free drop-in playground program for ages 6 to 12 with structured activities from noon to 3 p.m. SKIPP is at Lions Park and Woodruff Park, which is close to Garfield Elementary.

Lacey

–Lydia Hawk Elementary School: 7600 Fifth Ave. S.E.; lunch served from noon to 12:30 p.m., snack at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday from June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Mountain View Elementary School: 1900 College St. S.E.; lunch served from noon to 12:30 p.m., snack at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday from June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Pleasant Glade Elementary School: 1920 Abernethy Road N.E.; lunch served from noon to 12:30 p.m., snack at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday from June 23 to Aug. 15.

The program is run by Lacey Parks and Recreation, which is also running the Playground Pals, a free supervised and structured drop-in play program from noon to 3 p.m. at the three schools. Children ages 2 to 12 may participate, though those younger than 6 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Tumwater

–Peter G. Schmidt Elementary School: 225 Dennis St.; noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, June 23 to Aug. 15.

Thurston County

–ROOF: 10140 U.S. Highway 12 S.W., Rochester; lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to noon, snack is from 2:30 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Grand Mound Elementary School: 7710 James Road, Rochester; lunch is from 11:10 to 11:30 a.m., snack is from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m., Monday through Thursday, June 23 to July 24.

–Evergreen Villages: 505 W. Division St., Olympia; noon to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Evergreen Vista: 1205 Fern St. S.W., Olympia; noon to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 23 to Aug. 15.

–Falls Pointe: 411 W. Lee St., Tumwater; 11:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 23 to Aug. 15.
