Tangent Inc., a leading provider of technology solutions, has announced a new lightweight, 17 inch all-in-one point-of-care PC that meets all certifications for patient safety, is designed to withstand a harsh patient care environment, and has an industry- leading power efficiency.

Called the Medix 1700SF, the new thin silhouette touch screen PC features UL6061-1 and EN60601-1 certification for patient safety and allows safe placement close to patient in an ER or OR application, as a bedside terminal (low weight ideal for swing-arms), or for nursing carts. Its light weight, ultra-low power consumption and 12VDC operation make it ideal for nursing carts and all point-of- care locations.

The Medix 1700SF is environmentally and patient friendly with an anti-bacterial plastic housing, and an IP65 rating for dust-free and waterproof operation. The LCD and sealed ports are designed to resist spills and water damage.

It also has a screen and housing built to withstand regular use of disinfecting cleaners. Its fanless operation provides a dust- free operation and makes it easier to clean using a 10% bleach/ water disinfectant solution, whereas the competition uses fans and exposed ventilation holes making it difficult to spray with cleaning agents.

“Medix 1700SF is a secure, practical healthcare terminal for patients and practitioners,” stated Tangent CEO Doug Monsour. “Its reliable, high resolution touch screen solution makes data entry much easier, and its fanless design allows a very quiet operation, which is ideal for the healthcare environment.

“Three serial ports allow maximum connections to other equipment,” Monsour added.

Exceptional power savings are realized by the Medix 1700′s use of an Intel(R) Core 2 Duo mobile processor.

Other features include three serial ports to allow maximum connections to other equipment, VESA mount compliance, up to 2GB DDR2 SDRAM and two DDR2 DIMM sockets, 80GB 2.5″ SATA hard drive with an anti-vibration mechanism, integrated 10/100/1000 Gbit LAN, and a medical grade external power supply.

The Medix1700SF weighs only 15.2 lbs making it light enough for cart-based applications. It also comes with a shock-absorbing HDD mounting system to absorb impacts in cart applications.
