A Medical Perspective, www.mclibrary.duke.edu/hmc/exhibics/ blkhist, a segment of Duke University's Medical Center Library online, features information on medical education, the Black hospital movement, health insurance, significant achievements in medicine by Black Americans, medical folklore, a bibliography, and links to related Web sites.

* The mission of the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), http://ncmhd.nih.gov/, is to promote minority health and to lead, coordinate, support, and assess the National Institutes of Healths effort to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities. NCMHD conducts and supports basic, clinical, social, and behavioral research; promotes research infrastructure and training; fosters emerging programs; disseminates information; and reaches out to minority and other health disparity communities. Its Web site offers news and events, information about programs and grants, and strategic research plans.

* Find the latest news on health care issues, clinical trials, and other topics related to African Americans on MedlinePlus, www.nlm.nih.gov/ medlineplus/africanamericanhealth.html, a service from the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. Resources and information also can be found on prevention and screening, research, and genetics. The site provides links to pages specific to men, women, teenagers, and children.
