Iowa Awards Policy Studies Inc. (PSI) Contract to Operate Its Hawk-I Children’s Health Insurance Program
DENVER, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- PSI, a leading provider of health and human services for government clients, announced today the signing of a contract with the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) to perform administrative services for the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) Program. As part of Iowa's State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), the hawk-i Program provides health insurance coverage for uninsured children in Iowa whose families are between 133 and 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The contract has an estimated value of $2.1 million annually and operations will begin on January 1, 2009.
As the administrator for Iowa's hawk-i Program, PSI will operate a bilingual customer service center, maintain and run a toll-free telephone line and Web site, process applications, determine eligibility, enroll eligible children into the program and manage their cases, and interface with the various health plans to ensure payment and coverage. PSI's Executive Vice President Marty Bobroske elaborates, "SCHIPs are a vital component of state healthcare programs in that they extend healthcare coverage for children who are not eligible for Medicaid. Typically, at least one parent works but is not offered job-based health insurance or cannot afford to buy it. We are extremely pleased that Iowa has chosen to partner with us on such an important, far-reaching program. Together we can help more children get the health coverage they need quickly and accurately, with the utmost respect for their needs and expectations."Concurs DHS spokesman Roger Munns, "The selection of PSI is the result of a rigorous, competitive bidding procedure. We look forward to partnering with them in the administering of our SCHIP."
PSI currently provides government health-related services in Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
