National Business Coalition on Health Elects New Officers for Board of Directors and Adds New Members

WASHINGTON, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), a non-profit organization of nearly 60 employer-based health coalitions, representing over 7,000 employers across the United States, announced its slate of new officers for the Board of Governors. Officers are elected by their board peers based on proven leadership and commitment to NBCH, as well as their efforts to advance and strengthen the tenets of value based purchasing.

Cristie Travis, chief executive officer of the Memphis Business Group on Health, was named Chair of the Board of Governors. "NBCH plays an important role at a community level to drive the agenda of affordable quality health care," said Travis. "I look forward to working with my coalition colleagues and NBCH to improve the value of health care."

Regional representatives newly elected to the NBCH Board of Governors include: Lisa Gish, Tri-State Business Group on Health; Caryol Hendricks, Employers' Health Coalition; and Joanne Steffen, Health Services Coalition. Current regional representatives include: Gary Allen, Hawaii Business Health Council; Marilyn Bell, Michigan Purchasers Health Alliance; Don Crevling, Montana Association of Health Care Purchasers (replacing Margaret Stanley who recently retired from the Puget Sound Health Alliance); Cheryl DeMars, The Alliance; Christopher Goff, Employers Health Coalition of Ohio; Douglas Libby, Maine Health Management Coalition; Gary Rost, Savannah Business Group on Health; Sue Szymanski, Frontpath Health Coalition (reelected); and Barbara Wallace, Virginia Business Coalition on Health.

Elected executive committee members include: Chair Cristie Travis; Immediate Past Chair Jerry Custer, Heartland Healthcare Coalition; Vice Chair Carolyn Pare, Buyers Health Care Action Group; and serving dual roles: Secretary-Treasurer Barbara Wallace, and At-Large Board Representatives Gary Allen and Douglas Libby.

The Board also approved membership for the Louisiana Health Care Alliance, led by Executive Director Cheryl Tolbert, and the Wyoming Business Coalition on Health led by CEO Anne Ladd.
