Clinton Community College Offers Several Summer Classes Beginning in July

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The Clinton Community College Maquoketa Center, 506 S. Eliza St., Maquoketa, is offering the following summer classes:

— Beginning Guitar for Kids, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Beginning Guitar for Adults, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Monday, July 7. Both classes will run for six weeks. Guitars will be available for class and for practice.

— Drumming for Well-Being, 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31. This is a one-time class presented by drum circle facilitator Gwen Deming. Find out how to use drumming for exercise, stress reduction and mood enhancement.

— Senior Shopper, 6 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22. This is a one-time class presented by Tracy Welch, basket-maker. Learn how to weave a fancy tote basket. Some basket-weaving experience is required for this class.

— Healthy Exchanges = Healthy Meals, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Gina Griep, of De Witt, Iowa, will demonstrate how to take a recipe and break it down into a healthy one without giving up taste. The recipes in her class are for diabetics, heart and cholesterol concerns or those interested in healthy weight loss.

— Intro to Sociology, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday, July 8. Will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings through Thursday, Aug. 7. This class is for students wanting to take in a summer class for credit.
