Priority Health to Provide Zynx AmbulatoryCare(TM) to Michigan Physicians
Zynx Health, the leader in evidence-based healthcare, and Priority Health, one of Michigan’s largest commercial health plans, announced that they will conduct a study to evaluate the effectiveness of outpatient clinical decision support on patient care and adherence to pay-for-performance guidelines.
Priority Health will license Zynx AmbulatoryCare, a clinical decision support solution created exclusively for use in outpatient medical practices, to pilot this program with a number of physicians in western Michigan. Each physician in the pilot program will be using Zynx AmbulatoryCare to improve preventive care and chronic disease management. In many cases, Zynx AmbulatoryCare will be integrated with electronic health records software. Zynx AmbulatoryCare will provide clinicians with access to evidence-based order sets, health maintenance templates, and rules/alerts which cover more than 100 diseases and conditions.
“We applaud Priority Health for its leadership and commitment to improving the quality of ambulatory care for patients throughout Michigan,” said Derek Baird, director of product innovation for Zynx. “Health plans are increasingly interested in providing practices with quality improvement tools such as Zynx AmbulatoryCare, with some even offering additional compensation for the use of Zynx evidence-based clinical decision support.”
The results seen by these providers will be compared to those from a control population of clinics which are also using electronic medical record (EMR) systems but have not implemented Zynx AmbulatoryCare. Both clinical outcomes and processes of care will be compared between the control and intervention groups, with a focus on both health maintenance and disease management.
“We are excited to partner with our primary care providers and Zynx Health in order to evaluate the impact of evidence-based decision support at the point of care,” said Jennie Dulac, associate vice president of clinical programs at Priority Health.
Separately, Priority Health will be using Zynx AmbulatoryCare and ZynxEvidence(TM), an in-depth reference source for evidence-based quality improvement, to validate and develop quality improvement initiatives for the entire provider network.
