Kerala Cracks Whip on Erring Doctors, Sacks 295
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Government doctors proceeding on long leaves and extending it as per convenience has been a major concern for Kerala's health sector. Now the state government has decided that enough is enough.
Acting tough against the erring medics, the state health department has terminated the services of 295 of them.
While 124 doctors have been dismissed from the directorate of health services, 171 have been removed from the rolls of the medical education department, health minister P K Sreemathi told the state assembly. The government has also initiated action against 79 more doctors, she added.
