Suspect Jailed for Killing Pregnant Woman
A judge has denied bail to a Washington state woman who allegedly stabbed a pregnant woman to death and then cut her baby from the womb.
Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong, 23, of Kennewick, faces charges in Benton County of murdering Araceli Camacho Gomez, 27, of Pasco, and then trying to pass off the infant as her own.
The Kennewick (Wash.) Tri-City Herald said Tuesday that court documents showed Camacho had been tied up and then stabbed repeatedly before being dumped in a Kennewick park last Friday.
Sisouvanh Synhavong, who will be formally arraigned Wednesday, allegedly called 911 from a store and claimed she had just given birth. An examination at a hospital, however, revealed she had not, the newspaper said.
The infant was in critical condition at a Spokane hospital Tuesday.
