THE death of a brother sparked a Warwickshire man to go on a marathon run for charity.

Martyn Pegg, aged 45, of Weddington, Nuneaton, was devastated when his younger brother Richard died of cancer last September, but was full of admiration for the help and support provided by Macmillan Nurses.

So Martin, a maintenance manager with Network Rail, sought sponsors to run the London Marathon and he has now handed over pounds 2,800 to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Martin said: “I’d ran seven marathons previously but this one was the most important one to me. The Macmillan Nurses were superb during Richard’s illness.

“Many people supported me with donations, including members of Weddington Social Club, my employers, and the Nuneaton Organ Society.”
