B. Braun and HPG Sign for Advanced Patient Safety
Helping to advance patient safety, B. Braun Medical Inc. recently announced it has entered into two contract agreements with HealthTrust Purchasing Group (HPG). Under the agreements, HPG's more than 1,300 not-for-profit and for-profit acute care hospitals will benefit from the advanced safety and efficiency of B. Braun's PINNACLE(R) TPN Management System and products from B. Braun's broad portfolio of pharmacy solutions.
"We pride ourselves on delivering advanced, quality products that enhance safety and efficiency, and are cost-effective," said Caroll H. Neubauer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, B. Braun. "We are confident that HPG's customers will benefit from this partnership and access to B. Braun's unique PINNACLE(R) TPN Management System."
B. Braun will provide its PINNACLE(R) TPN Management System to HPG members. The award-winning PINNACLE(R) TPN Management System is a medical device that helps improve patient safety and compounding efficiency when pharmacies mix intravenous (IV) formulations. The system controls the precise, individualized creation of IV formulations using dextrose, amino acids, electrolytes and lipids for patients unable to tolerate oral intake of nutrients or who rely on tube feeding for sustenance. The built-in safety check software and barcoding features help ensure that the right nutrition solutions reach the correct patient.
B. Braun also has signed a separate two-year contract agreement with HPG for its Pharmacy Products. From the pharmacy to the patient, B. Braun brings efficiency and safety to pharmacy admixture with its line of trusted, innovative solutions. With the Pharmacy agreement, HPG members will have access to products from B. Braun's comprehensive portfolio of pharmacy solutions including dispensing pins, vacuum transfer tubes, backcheck valves, fluid transfer sets, vented needles, base and specialty nutrition as well as dual chamber bags.
