City Will Celebrate 60 Years of the NHS
Health services in Plymouth are celebrating the diamond anniversary of the NHS this Saturday with a range of events.
Staff from across the city’s health community are marking the event and will gather at Drake Circus for a public celebration.
GPs, nurses, pharmacists, smoking cessation experts and others will be on hand to offer free advice and health checks; people are welcome to drop by and have their blood pressure checked, find out their BMI (body mass index) or learn about a range of subjects from cancer awareness to eating more healthily.
Anyone interested in working for the NHS in Plymouth will be able to find out more, and at the end of the week an exhibition of old photographs and medical items will be on display in the main concourse of Derriford Hospital.
A service to celebrate the anniversary is being held in the hospital’s chapel, on Level 7, on Monday, July 7, at 12.30pm.
All are welcome.
