Get Your Skin Checked at Tesco

Posted on: Friday, 4 July 2008, 06:00 CDT

TESCO Pharmacy has joined forces with Screen4Life to offer a mole check service.

Using state-of-art technology, the Tesco mole check service aims to help tackle the estimated 100,000 new cases of skin cancer diagnosed each year.

There are three screening options available - bronze - three moles checked (pounds 25); silver - full body check (pounds 45); gold - full body check for customer and a member of their family (pounds 65).

The screening uses the latest skin imaging technology developed and clinically tested in the UK. The procedure is non-invasive, painless and harmless.

Customers get their results immediately. If the results require further interpretation they will be sent to a specialist.

Should the results show the mole has unusual features that require further investigation, a report is sent to the customer's GP.

Penny Beck, superintendent pharmacist at Tesco, said: "Skin cancer is increasing in this country and by working in partnership with Screen4Life we aim to tackle the problem head-on. More people die from skin cancer in the UK than Australia."

Selected Tesco Pharmacies nationwide will be taking part.

Book an appointment on 0800 988 6653 or at the pharmacy counter.
