CHICAGO, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Healthcare Publications Editors has named Hospitals & Health Networks the 2005 Magazine of the Year. The award is given annually to the publication that exemplifies excellence, leadership and quality in health care publishing. Hospitals & Health Networks, which was also recognized as Magazine of the Year in 2001, the inaugural year of the prize, is the only magazine to receive this recognition twice.
"Hospitals & Health Networks admirably fulfills its mission to serve health care leaders by offering consistently informative and revealing articles in an imaginative and reader-friendly package," the judges said in conferring the honor. "The 'InBox' news section provides timely analysis of current trends, while the feature articles emphasize management evaluation and education, the kind of 'how to do your job better' material that makes an industry publication invaluable to its audience. Authoritative commentary and clever graphic design are also noteworthy."
"We are committed to excellence in journalism," said Mary Grayson, publisher and editorial director for Hospitals & Health Networks. "We will continue to produce timely, insight-oriented magazines for the hospital and health care community."
The judges also recognized Hospitals & Health Networks for "all-around excellence -- good use of staff, good menu of departments, very professional looking and worthy of high honors."
The society also awarded the magazine with three gold awards for excellence:
* "The Quiet Epidemic," by Gloria Shur Bilchik, was named best feature
article
* "The 100 Most Wired," by Alden Solovy, Jennifer Towne and Suzanna
Hoppszallern, was named the best special report
* "Business Matters," the regular column by Alden Solovy, was named best
regular staff written column
