Work on Care Centre Ends Early
Patients will have access to better facilities sooner than expected after work to extend a care centre finished two weeks ahead of schedule.
Hospiscare’s Exeter day centre has been extended and revamped by the work, which cares for 15 patients a day. The charity was awarded a pounds700,000 grant from the Department of Health to go ahead with the work.
Hospiscare yet to furnish the suite of rooms, which include two complementary therapy rooms; activity rooms with their own kiln; a hairdressers; space for group activities and a coffee bar. They are expected to open to patients in August.
Hospiscare’s chief executive Glynis Atherton said: “We are really pleased to have the facility available earlier than we thought, and are looking forward to having day centre patients and staff back on site. The added space and facilities will really help us to offer more choice to our patients.”
Since January, Hospiscare’s patients have been attending day sessions at Cadagon Court in Exeter, and at Seaton’s Community Hospital. Hospiscare has raised more than pounds5,000 towards furnishing the day centre. To make a contribution, call 01392 688022.
