Bakery’s GBP1000 for Kids’ Unit
ONE of Scotland’s best known bakers has donated GBP1000 to the Schiehallion Unit at Glasgow’s Yorkhill Hospital for a new blood pressure machine.
Staff at Warburtons bakery in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, raised the money by attending a trade show and selling the company’s products at discounted prices.
The Schiehallion Unit has been open since 1996 and treats children suffering from leukemia and other life-threatening conditions.
Some of the 22 patients need bone marrow transplants and have blood disorders, such as haemophilia and sickle cell disease.
