On-Site Medical Services Come to Senior Living Community
The West Virginia University Physicians of Charleston has begun offering on-site geriatric medical services to the residents of Edgewood Summit and Ridgemont, a senior living community that features both independent living and assisted living residences on Charleston's West Side.
The program brings Dr. Todd Goldberg, a board-certified internist and geriatrician from the WVU physicians group, to the facility on a weekly basis, along with a consulting pharmacist from WVU, nurses from Edgewood Summit and various health professions students and trainees. A lab technician from SVI will also be available to the residents as part of this initiative.Edgewood Summit held an open house to introduce the program on June 2, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a reception afterward.
"Bringing WVU Physicians of Charleston on site will enhance the quality of care our residents receive and raise the standard of living within our community," said Edgewood Summit Executive Director Diane Gouhin.
Goldberg and the staff from WVU hope to expand these services and hours in the future.
"As the needs and demand grow, it is our hope that we can provide Edgewood residents with even greater access to care," Goldberg said.
