July 12, 2008

By Colette M. Jenkins, The Akron Beacon Journal, Ohio

Jul. 12–Imagine Unity, an alliance of six Akron church organizations, is sponsoring a baseball outing for fathers and sons and men and boys at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at Canal Park for the Akron Aeros game against the Connecticut Defenders.

The goal of the evening is to bring together people from various backgrounds. A special 15-minute “assembly of unity” will take place after the game on the field. Anyone wishing to request someone to accompany their son to the game can call Aaron Golby at 330-315-5457.

Imagine Unity was established last year to promote Christian and racial harmony, speak about love and model reconciliation and unity. Member organizations include Love Akron, the Akron and Vicinity Baptist Ministers, Akron Unity Partnership and Interdenominational Ministers Association.

Tickets are available through churches involved in Imagine Unity. Those include The Chapel, The House of the Lord, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Mountain of the Lord Fellowship, Mount Zion Baptist Church and Greater Bethel Baptist Church. Tickets can also be purchased through the Aeros ticket system.
