Dosher Medical Plaza to Open Doors Soon

Jul. 13–Dosher Medical Plaza on Long Beach Road plans to open its doors to patients the first week of August.
The opening has been delayed a couple months because of confusion between the contractor and the state over fire protection requirements, Dosher Memorial Hospital CEO Edgar Haywood III said.
Wednesday the state gave the hospital notice it can now occupy the building, Haywood said.
“This is our first physical joint project with New Hanover,” he added.
Dosher and New Hanover Regional Medical Center paired up in July 2006 in an effort to better serve the growing community.
The plaza’s service will include digital mammography, a bone density machine, X-ray capability and a lab to draw blood. It could eventually include MRI or CT scan equipment. Two specialty clinics, Coastal Urology of Wilmington and Atlantic Orthopedics will also be at the plaza once a week, Haywood said.
The hospital is renting the space and will share it with other tenants, he added.
It will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
